about

Neil Feather has invented more than ten families of experimental musical instruments since 1970. Made from flywheels, springs, strings, magnets, motors, flywheels, pendulums and bowling balls, the instruments are mechanical physics experiments for the purpose of creating new music.
Two LPs and a color booklet illuminate the breadth of these Instruments and the diversity of musicians around Baltimore's Improvised music scene. All of the pieces here are improvised duets with Neil Feather and one of eleven other musicians.

Sides A and B were recorded in 3 days in October 2018 at The Red Room in Baltimore MD. Neil was a founding member of the Red Room and most of the musicians have a close relationship with the collective. The musicians are Kristen Toedtman - vocals, Susan Alcorn - pedal steel guitar, Eric Franklin - theremin, Stewart Mostofsky - electronics, Rupert Wondolowski - vocals, Rose Hammer Burt - baritone sax, Sam Burt - Daxophone, and Nicole Mazarakis - contraption

Side C is duets with Neil and Rosie Langabeer as Popular Organ Fun Party. Rosie plays a 1974 Baldwin electric organ with a rhythm machine and a Mighty Wurlitzer theater organ.

Side D features THUS, a long standing project with John Berndt that used the invented instruments of Neil Feather, John Berndt
and others 1993-2010. Track 5 is a duet

with Jason Willet electronics.
